Keep working on learning where to look for different things in Matthew's Gospel. In chapter fourteen we read about John the Baptist's death and Peter walking on water.

Questions for Study and Discussion:
In Matthew 15:1-20 the Pharisees were objecting to Jesus' disciples not observing a tradition of ceremonial handwashing. Jesus countered with an accusation that the Pharisees endorsed a violation of the Fourth Commandment. What is the common root of the accusations? How would it inform your understanding of what defiles a person?
How does a Christian believe that humans are made undefiled?
In Matthew 15:21-28 Jesus delays in healing a woman's daughter. We are not given a reason. What are some possible reasons? Why do you think each possiblity is stronger or weaker?
In what ways does Jesus provide for people in Matthew 15:20-30? What does this show you about Jesus? How does it relate to events in earlier parts of the chapter?
