Bryennios described his finding of the manuscript of the Didache as an accident, as he leafed through the volume located in the Monastery of the Holy Supulcher in Jerusalem (Grosvenor 1884, 515). He was most interested in 1 and 2 Clement and the Epistle of Barnabas, which he worked with from 1873-1880 (Grosvenor 1884, 516). It was not until 1880 that he read over the Didache in the same manuscript and realized what it was. He worked until 1883 to bring it to press, at which time the scholarly community received it very enthusiastically.
