Hutchens, S.M. “Good News or Dead End?” Touchstone Sept/Oct 2013, pp. 4-5
Hutchens, writing in response to comments that modern Christianity has been too concerned about relevance and not concerned enough about holiness, observes that this likely false dichotomy is not a new concern among Christians. Hutchens points us to the two ways passage of the Didache, saying the difference between life and death is enormous and should be obvious (Hutchens 2013, 5). His contention is that when we blur the lines of good and evil we are not helpful to those who are not entirely certain of the difference. Good leadership is authoritative and makes it clear that there is good and evil, sin and salvation, a way of life and a way of death.
Hutchens’ comments, though they are in a journal I greatly respect, and though they came up in a search about the Didache, are not of the nature to be of assistance in understanding much of th Didache. Rather, they provide some measure of critical analysis and enlightenment about our world.
